The Maternity Shoot
Arriving At The Studio
Beautiful Aising contacted me. She had been looking at my work online and loved the idea of coming to the studio for a maternity shoot with her partner.
We chatted about the different styles that she was interested in. Some simple and stripped-back images to show her bump of best, and she also loved the idea of mixing that up with some of my gowns (of which there are plenty to choose from).
We chatted about colours and any particular images that she had noticed on my website and social media that she loved.
As she arrived ready for her shoot, with her hair and makeup done, we were ready to get started straight away.
(I do have the option to book the make-up artist that I recommend, who will come to the studio for you and take the stress out of getting ready yourself or travelling somewhere else before your shoot.)
The shoot lasted about 1 and 1/2 hours and included 5 different changes/styles, as well as images with her partner. It quickly becomes very exhausting to move and pose and change gowns when pregnant, and I find that this is usually a perfect amount of time for the shoot.
And she was delighted that she did not need to worry about how to move or create any poses. That is all directed by me. Where to look, how to position your body, and expression.

Viewing Your Images
Once the shoot was over, Aisling decided that as she was heavily pregnant, it would be easier to view and choose her images online. I could then create a download link for her to easily access them.
She could have come back to the studio to view them on the large TV screen and pick then and there, but as with a lot of my maternity shoots, clients decide that its much more comfortable to do this at home.
This is the only time I offer that option. Every other shoot I do including my newborn sessions, clients come back to the viewing room to choose their images, and take them home.
Your Newborn Shoot
Returning For A Newborn Shoot
Aisling and her partner returned to the studio about 4 or 5 weeks after their baby girl arrived.
I never rush my clients to get into the studio at a particular time. I know that everyone's birth is different, and some need more time than others.
Her beautiful baby girl did so well at her shoot, and both Aisling and her partner were amazed at how relaxed she was.
I have to say that most of my parents can't believe how relaxed the shoot is, and how comfortable their babies are during it.
They returned to the studio to view their images and were kind enough to leave a review of their experience with me.

"I would highly recommend this photography service. Paula’s attention to detail and her artistic touch was impeccable. I was initially concerned that our newborn would not stay still and would cry constantly because she likes to be held all the time. However, Paula had some tricks that kept our baby very calm and she stayed asleep for the whole photoshoot. The photos were truly beautiful. I also booked a maternity shoot and the photos were great. I felt very relaxed and comfortable. Paula helped me choose outfits that suited my style."
