What Do I Need To Bring?
You only have to bring the essentials with you. A bottle if you're not breastfeeding, and it's always good to bring more than you think you will need! And any gripe water for windy babies.
A soother if you okay about using them. They are great for helping your little one to nod off during the shoot.
A comfortable blanket, great for keeping them warm when stipped down to their nappy. Extra nappies (although I do keep some for you in the studio). And any snacks for siblings that might be coming along too.
Getting Settled In
As you arrive at the studio, I will be here to meet you and get you settled in with a cup of tea or coffee!
As a new mum, you will most likely be traveling with family to help, and that's great. Life with a newborn can be very stressful for some new mums initially, and a pair of helping hands can be a fantastic help.
I am here to make your life as stress-free as possible when you are in my studio.
You may have a hair and make-up session booked for your newborn photo-shoot.
This is a time for you to sit, relax and enjoy a pampering session while I start creating some beautiful images of your new baby.
Any family member traveling with you can sit inside the studio with me while I'm working away.
And if you do have other children coming to the shoot, remember to bring something to keep their attention (and headphones) and someone to help.
And Sleeeeeeeeep!
The studio will be toasty and warm for you arriving, all ready for your photoshoot to begin. After getting settled in at the studio, I will take time to make sure you and your baby are feeling settled before we start.
There is no rush at all during the day. It's a stress-free environment!!
If your little one needs a feed, then there is plenty of time for breast or bottle-feeding. And when you are both ready, we can get started creating images with the colours you love.
I have sooooo many different colours for you to choose from, and this is something that we will discuss at our pre-booking telephone call.
How Long Will It Take?
Your photoshoot can last anything from 2-3 hours. It really depends on how your little one is feeling throughout the shoot. Sometimes babies need to feed more than they do at home. This strange environment can make them very hungry! And that's no problem.
The studio is warm and calm and a lovely place to relax, I often turn to see parents just about ready to nod off. Sleep exhausted and relaxed; it can be enjoyable to sit and take a little time out.
Oh Poop!
Lots of mums worry about what happens if there is a little accident during the shoot. Please don't worry; it happens regularly.
I often photograph many of my shoots with a nappy on, but if it happens during the photoshoot it's no problem.
I have so many blankets and wraps, with little towels under your baby to stop any spillage seeping through to other layers.
What About Sibling And Parent Shots?
Yes, that's no problem at all! There is nothing better than having family images with your brand new baby.
If you have really young children, I find it's best to do these images first. Young children have such a short attention span and get very fidgety the more the day goes on if they don't have something to do.
If you do decide to take our hair and make-up package, we can have a chat before your shoot to work out when the best time to bring your little cherubs to the studio would be.
So we can have you looking like a glamorous mama for your family images!
If it's just you and your partner, we can include these images after your baby has been photographed.
If you are looking for a newborn and baby photographer near you in Glasgow, and you like the style of my images, get in touch. I will be more than happy to have a chat about any questions that you might have about booking in for a shoot with your newborn baby or family.
